How do Humand updates work?

At Humand, we regularly release updates to provide a better user experience and introduce new ways to use the app. These updates typically include performance improvements, bug fixes, and new features.

In Humand we use updates via App Stores (App Store and Play Store): These updates require downloading a new version from online stores such as the App Store or Google Play Store. They are aimed at enhancing or fixing structural errors, adding new features or important functionalities, and maintaining the security and performance of the application.

If a user doesn't have the most updated version of the app, an update modal will appear to suggest updating the app for the best experience.

The modal appears if the user has a version of the app at least 2 versions behind, and if it hasn't reminded them to update in over 14 days.

Why doesn't Humand update automatically even if I have automatic updates enabled?

  • Network restriction: if it's set to update only over Wi-Fi and you're currently on mobile data.
  • Low battery or power-saving mode: some operating systems block background processes, including automatic updates.
  • Insufficient storage space: the store postpones the update if there's no room to download and install the package.
  • Pending installations: if the user has many apps queued for updates, the store may prioritize others.
  • Background connectivity issues: if there's a poor connection when the store tries to update, it might skip the update and retry later (sometimes taking days).
  • Region/progressive rollout: sometimes the App Store/Play Store releases the version in waves, not simultaneously for everyone.
  • Data saver settings (on Android): can block automatic downloads even on Wi-Fi.
  • Manually paused updates: the user might have paused them without realizing it.

👉 In short, even if auto-update is active, there are multiple system, connectivity, and store factors that can delay or prevent the app from updating right away.
