If the person who approves vacation requests goes on vacation or will be unavailable for a period of time, the employee can assign a substitute approver to act on their behalf during that time.
Below, we explain how this feature works, who can set it up, and what happens to requests that are already in progress.
Who can assign a substitute approver?
Any user who is an approver in a vacation approval workflow can assign a substitute. The substitute will receive the same requests that the original approver would have received during the set period.
How do you set it up?
The steps must be completed from the Humand mobile app, not from the admin panel.
1. Log in to app.humand.co or the mobile app and go to Vacations and Leave.
2. Submit your own request and assign the substitute approver.
3. Confirm your selection. From the start of your leave, any new vacation requests that would go to this approver will be sent to the designated substitute instead.
What can the substitute approver do?
- View pending vacation requests from employees assigned to the original approver.
- Approve or reject requests on behalf of the original approver.
The substitute cannot view employees’ balances unless they also have an admin role with the Time Off Management permission.
What happens to requests that were already submitted?
Requests that were submitted before the substitute approver was set up will remain assigned to the original approver. The substitute will only appear on requests created after the setup.
