From Chats you can start an audio or video call with any colleague, or hold a group video call, without leaving the conversation. The mobile app also has a refreshed experience, with clearer controls and smoother animations.
-
To call from the app, go to Chats, open the conversation with the colleague and, in the header, tap the video 🎥 icon or the phone 📞 icon.
-
- You'll see a row of buttons at the bottom of the screen.
- While you wait for an answer, the "Calling…" text under the contact's avatar blinks.
- When the other person accepts, that same text turns into the call's duration timer, without changing screens.
- If the call is declined or times out, the app automatically returns to the chat screen, with a smooth transition, haptic vibration, and a notification sound.
-
- Incoming call screen: the person receiving the call sees the caller's avatar and name, with buttons to accept (green) or decline (red).
- Audio mode: while the camera is off, the other person's avatar and name are shown centered, with the duration timer and controls to mute, toggle speaker, switch to video, chat, and hang up.
- Video mode: the other person's video takes up the full screen, with your own thumbnail view (PiP) in the bottom-right corner, and controls to mute, switch camera, switch to audio, chat, and hang up.
- If you turn on your camera during an audio call, the app requests permission (if needed), shows your preview while the other person's video connects, and then moves to the full video screen.
-
- The screen is organized in a grid that adapts automatically to the number of participants (from 2 up to 8+, grouping extra participants into an overflow icon).
- Each participant is shown with their video or, if their camera is off, with their avatar and name.
- It includes a floating self-view you can drag around the screen.
- When someone joins or leaves, the tiles rearrange with a smooth animation and a brief notice appears (for example, "Juan joined the call").
- You can share your screen: while sharing, the shared content takes up the main area and participants are shown in a strip at the bottom.
-
- Mute: when you mute yourself, the other participants see a mute icon on your tile.
- Camera: when you turn it off, your video stops and your avatar is shown instead, both for you and for everyone else.
- Controls stay visible and work the same way regardless of how many participants are on the call.
When a 1:1 call ends, the app returns to the chat screen with a smooth transition, haptic vibration, and a sound. If the phone is locked when the call ends, on Android the app simply closes; on iOS, the system's native call screen behavior is respected.
-
Besides using the header icons, you can tap the colleague's name in the chat header to open its options, and from there tap Call or Video.

To call from app.humand.co, go to Chats, open the conversation with the colleague and, in the header, click the video icon or the phone icon.
The person receiving the call sees an Incoming call window, with Accept and Decline buttons.
Once connected, each participant is shown in a tile within a grid. From the bottom bar you can mute your microphone, turn your camera on or off, share your screen, add participants, or end the call.
Humand calls let you sort things out quickly with your colleagues, whether in a 1:1 conversation or a group video call, without leaving the platform.
