How can we help?

How do I configure the different types of leave (study days, moving, sick leave, etc)?

In this article you can see a general guide on how the settings of a leave policy should look like.

Configurations for Leaves with basic annual allowance

Leaves with basic annual allowance are also called special leaves. They are usually licenses that have already established a number of days per year and this number is never modified.

Some leaves with basic annual allowance are:

  • Marriage. For example, in Argentina, 10 days per year.
  • Study days. For example, in Argentina, a maximum of 10 days per year.
  • Moving. For example, in Argentina it is 2 days per year.
  • Maternity. For example, in Argentina 90 days per year.
  • Paternity. For example, in Argentina 45 days per year.
  • Bereavement. In Argentina, each corresponds to 3 days.

To configure them, you can follow these steps:

  • In the Allowance section for leaves in Argentina, set the following:

    • Allowance entitlement: Base annual allowance.

    • Annual allowance: Number of days as applicable. For example, for Study Days, set to 10.

    • Activity period: As applicable. In this example, use "Jan鈥揇ec".

    • Accrual timing: As applicable. In this example, use "Beginning of the cycle".

  • In the Proration of allowance section, configure the days to calculate proration as calendar days.

    • Carryover limit: Set to 0 (zero), so that days do not accumulate.

  • Keep the allowance increase by years of service turned off.

  • Depending on the type of leave, set the minimum and maximum period that employees can request. For study leave, the minimum is 1 day and the maximum is 2 days. Additionally, attaching a file is mandatory.

  • Configure the approval workflow for requests in your community as required.

Configurations for Sick Leave

Sick leave generally does not have a set number of days per year; it is indefinite. It is an unlimited annual allowance. To configure it:

  • In the Allowance section for leaves, set as follows:

    • Allowance entitlement: Unlimited.

    • Activity period: "Jan鈥揇ec".

    • Accrual timing: Beginning of the cycle.

  • It depends on your company whether to limit the number of days an employee can take.

Depending on the type of leave, you can configure it to require users to attach a document, such as a medical certificate.

  • Configure the approval workflow for requests in your community as required.

Configurations for Birthday Day

  • In the Allowance section, set the following:

    • Allowance entitlement: Base annual allowance.

    • Annual allowance: 1 day.

    • Activity period: "Jan鈥揇ec".

    • Accrual timing: Beginning of cycle.

  • In the Proration of allowance section, configure the days to calculate proration as calendar days.

    • Carryover limit: Set to 0 (zero), so that birthday days do not accumulate.

  • Keep the allowance increase by years of service turned off.

  • There is no minimum or maximum period that employees can request since only one day is granted.

  • Configure the approval workflow for requests in your community as required.
