How do I create and customize a completion certificate?

Humand lets you create personalized digital certificates that team members receive upon completing a course, learning path, or session.

You can design them using templates, dynamic fields, signatures, logos, and colors from the admin panel by going to Learning → Settings → Certificates.

Certificate Access

The creation process is divided into 4 steps:

  • When you click + Create certificate, select one of the 3 available templates:

    Template Description
Classic Formal and elegant design with decorative borders and traditional fonts. Includes accent color selector.
Modern Minimalist, contemporary design with vibrant colors and clean lines. Includes accent color selector.
Custom background Upload your own background image (JPG/PNG, up to 50 MB). Content is layered on top. Does not include color selector.
    Template selection for creating certificate
  • Set up the certificate text. On the right, you'll see a real-time preview.

    Field Description
Certificate name Internal identifier, not visible on the final certificate.
Title Main highlighted text (e.g., "Certificate of Completion").
Subtitle (optional) Secondary text, supports variable fields.
Description (optional) Detailed text, supports variable fields.

Variable fields: Use the "+ Add field" button to insert dynamic variables into the text:

    • {courseTitle} → Training title
    • {startDate} → Start date
    • {endDate} → End date
    • {duration} → Duration

The team member's first and last name always appear automatically on all 3 templates. There's no need to add them as a variable field.

Certificate text configuration with real-time preview
  • Customize the visual appearance of the certificate. The preview updates in real time.

    • Color: Full visual palette selector for the certificate (Classic and Modern only).
    • Signatures: Toggle to enable signatures. When active, you can add up to 3 signatures, each with a signature image (JPG/PNG, up to 50 MB), signer name (optional), and position (optional).
    • Logos: Toggle to enable logos. You can add up to 2 logos (JPG/PNG, up to 50 MB).
    • Content alignment: Left, Center (default), or Right.
Certificate design options: color, signatures, logos, and alignment
  • The final step shows an expanded preview of the certificate so you can check the final result.

Once confirmed, the certificate is created in Draft status. From the certificate list, you can activate it and assign it to the relevant courses, learning paths, or sessions.

To download it once it's issued, see How do I download course completion certificates?
