When Are Days Credited in a Policy?

The crediting of days depends on the policy settings: frequency and, if annual, the timing of accrual.

Below, we'll look at when days are credited according to each method.

  • Days are fully credited at the start of the configured cycle. Also, whenever an employee is assigned to a policy with this setting, the system automatically credits 100% of the days corresponding to the current cycle.

The accrual year matches the cycle to which the days belong.

    Example:

If the cycle runs from October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2025, the days are credited on October 1, 2024. If an employee is assigned to the policy in March 2025, they will also receive the total number of days for that cycle. In both cases, the accrual year is 2024.

  • Days are credited at the end of the configured cycle. No days are credited when the policy is assigned.

The accrual year does not match the cycle to which the days belong, since the crediting happens at the end of the worked period.

    Example:

If the cycle runs from October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2025, the days are credited on September 30, 2025. In this case, the days belong to the 2024 cycle, but the accrual year is 2025.

  • The total annual amount set is divided into 12 equal parts and one part is credited each month within the cycle.

There is no accrual timing setting, since the crediting happens automatically month by month.

    Example:

If 12 annual days are set in a January–December cycle, the employee will receive 1 day per month. Each monthly credit is associated with the corresponding cycle.

How do I choose the right configuration?

The decision depends on labor regulations and the operational logic of each organization.

  • If days need to be available at the start of the period, choose annual accrual at the beginning of the cycle.

  • If days are granted for each year worked, choose annual accrual at the end of the cycle.

  • If you want progressive accrual, monthly frequency is the right option.
