Proration determines how days are deducted when an employee submits a request under a Vacation and Leave policy.
When setting up a policy, you need to choose whether the deduction will be based on:
Calendar days
Business days (working days)
This setting directly affects the number of days that will be deducted from the balance.
-
In this mode, the system deducts every consecutive day included in the request, regardless of working days or holidays.
Every day within the requested range is deducted from the balance, whether or not the employee works that day.
Example:
If an employee requests leave from Monday to Sunday (7 days), 7 days will be deducted from their balance, even if they don't work on Saturday and Sunday.
-
In this mode, the system only deducts the days configured as working days for the employee.
The following are not deducted:
- Rest days set in their work schedule.
- Holidays loaded for their assigned region or location.
Example:
If an employee works Monday through Friday and requests leave from Monday to Sunday, the system will deduct 5 days.
If there is a holiday within those days in their region, that day will not be deducted either.
What settings affect proration?
When you choose the business days mode, the system uses:
The employee's work schedule.
The holidays set up in Regions and Locations and the assignment of employees to them.
Changes made to holidays, working days, rest days, or the proration settings of the policy do not retroactively affect requests that have already been submitted.
