How can we help?

What is a performance review cycle with a calibration stage and how do I set it up?

Calibration is an optional phase in the performance review cycle that allows a committee to review, validate, and adjust the evaluations made by leaders before closing out the process.

  • Calibration adds a collective review step between the leaders' evaluations and the final results. A designated committee can view the evaluations, discuss them, and make adjustments to ensure consistent criteria are applied across the organization.

This is especially helpful when different leaders use different standards, or when you want to ensure fairness in the results before sharing them.

  • Calibration is enabled from the performance review cycle settings as an optional phase. To enable it:

    1. Go to admin.humand.co.
    2. Click on Performance and access the relevant review cycle.
    3. In the cycle settings, turn on the Calibration option.
    4. You’ll then see a new calibration section where you can define the members of the calibration committee.

A new stage is added to the performance review process (only visible if Calibration is enabled in the cycle settings):
Select → Review → Calibration (new) → Delivery

Calibration requires that the cycle has downward evaluation with scoring enabled.

  • Once the Calibration phase starts, committee members can:

    • View the evaluations completed by leaders.
    • Compare results between employees or teams.
    • Adjust scores if needed, with a record of any changes made.

Once the committee finishes reviewing and making adjustments, close the Calibration phase from the cycle administration. From that point on, the calibrated results are considered final.

Adding Calibration to the review process ensures that results reflect fair and consistent standards across the organization, regardless of how strict or lenient each leader is when rating their team.
