The vacation sale feature allows employees to choose to cash out up to half of their legally available vacation days instead of taking them as time off. This feature is available exclusively for vacation policies in Colombia.
-
1. Go to Admin Panel → Vacations and Leave → Policies → edit or create the Vacation policy.
2. In the regional settings, select Colombia as the country.
3. In the Request section, you'll see the option Allow vacation balance sale. Turn it on so employees can use it when making a request.
-
When submitting a vacation request under a policy with sale enabled, the employee chooses:
- Days as time off: days they will take as absence.
- Days as cash: days they will receive as financial compensation.
Key rule: days as time off must always be more than days as cash.
Days as time off Days as cash (maximum) 5 up to 4 6 up to 5 1 0 (not allowed) Total deducted from balance = days as time off + days as cash.
If there are pending requests awaiting approval, the system calculates the available balance taking those into account. If the resulting balance isn't enough, the request can't be completed.
-
- Request details: shows the number of days as cash requested.
- Request report: if the policy has sale enabled, the report includes an extra column with the days as cash for each request. It's also available in the advanced report options.
- Public API: the days as cash field is included in the GET request response.
This feature is only available for policies with Colombia as the regional setting. Policies for other countries will not show this option.
