How can we help?

How does the Roles and Permissions module work?

The Roles and Permissions module lets you control who has access to what within your community. Instead of setting permissions person by person, you create roles (like "Internal Communications" or "HR") and assign them to the appropriate people.

To access, go to admin.humand.co → Settings → Roles and Permissions.

Overview of the Roles and Permissions module with the roles table
  • When you enter, you'll see all the roles in your community. From the table, you can search by name, filter by status, and access actions for each role using the menu.

Overview of the Roles and Permissions module with the roles table

    Column Description
Role name Name and description of the role.
    Members Number of assigned collaborators.
Status Draft, In progress, or Active.
Last modified Last time the role was edited.

If you don't see the menu, scroll horizontally on the table.

  • Every community includes two roles that are created automatically:

    Role What it does
Full administrator Full access to the entire platform. This role can't be edited or deleted. There must always be at least one person with this role.
All users Defines the permissions that apply to all collaborators in the community (e.g., reacting to posts, viewing events). Member assignment is fixed — it always applies to everyone.
  • Each permission indicates where it applies:

Admin panel: what the user can do in admin.humand.co.

App: what the user can do from the mobile app.

There are two types of permissions:

    Type Scope Example
General Applies to all content in the module. "Manage news" in all groups.
Specific Applies only to specific entities you define when setting them up. "Manage news" only in the "Argentina" group.

Permissions are additive: if someone has more than one role, the broadest access always applies. You can't use one role to restrict what another grants.

  • Status Meaning
Draft The role was created but hasn't been activated yet.
In progress Activation is in progress. Refresh the page to confirm the final status.
Active The role is applied to all its members.

Some general recommendations for using Roles and Permissions:

  • Keep the number of people with the Full administrator role low — only those who really need full access.
  • Use All users only for permissions that should apply to the entire community.
  • If a role applies to many people, it's better to assign by segmentation group instead of selecting manually.
  • Write clear descriptions for each role to make management easier when you have several set up.
